Hannibal Laguna’s show at the Madrid Fashion Week

Desfile de Hannibal Laguna

Hannibal Laguna is synonymous with elegance, class and exclusiveness. One of the things I love about his designs is the way he combines traditional garments with utterly fashionable items, and his shows always exude creativity, sophistication and femininity.

Last month I was lucky to be able to confirm all this yet again at Hannibal Laguna’s 2020 2721 Autumn/Winter Collection fashion show at Ifema in the course of the Madrid Fashion Week.

Phantasize, the new collection by Hannibal Laguna

Under the Phantasize title, Laguna showcased a very feminine collection featuring long evening dresses with the accent on colour. We were treated to luminous and very vivid tones of green, fuchsia or mustard yellow. Black garments, always a safe bet for evening looks, made only a couple of appearances.

I really loved his impactful prints featuring motifs that tap into the 1970s, with stripes and psychedelic forms, plus, naturally, animal prints, albeit somewhat more minimalistic. The more romantic among us were also treated to catwalk proposals featuring relief flower prints made of tulle and accompanied by jewelled embroidery work. The collection also embraces the latest trends, such as puffy sleeves or body-hugging outfits that adapt easily to all figures.

Hannibal Laguna’s fashion shows never leave me feeling indifferent, and tend to awaken my more feminine side, as well as my “passion for fashion”. This time round, his necklines were a veritable inspiration. Laguna’s inventiveness is infinite and his garments play with very different necklines, ranging from plunging V-necks to turtle necks enhanced with impactful bows.

Nobody wanted to miss Laguna’s show at Madrid Fashion Week. We had a great time hanging out with artists such as Chenoa and Natalia, former contestants of the first edition of the Operación Triunfo talent show; the model Juncal Rivero, the TV anchor-woman Isabel Gemio, the designer Maya Hansen and Begoña Gómez.
