the eve of the feast of Sant Joan

The eve of the feast of Sant Joan

Tuesday, June 23rd: the eve of the feast of Sant Joan. The night of the summer solstice. It’s a night for purifying energies, of tradition and of sun worship. In other words, a night full of magic.

We began with a moonlitght dinner on the terrace of RCTB 1899, with a healthy menu that was just right for the occasion. To start, a leek puree, mini toasts topped with Iberic ham and delicious shrimp croquettes. Then came a fresh and tasty shrimp and avocado salad, and last, the oven-roasted sea bass, which was spectacular. After a slice of chocolate and basil cake, we of course made a toast with cava and the traditional Sant Joan cake: coca.

The evening was organized by the group which manages Chico, Quillio Bar, and Palique. With this kind of experience, it was clearly a success!

At the tables we were surrounded by good friends and with great new people, too. This all made for a lively party with good vibes.

What I liked most? Enjoying the magical evening under the moonlight on the Real Tennis Club of Barcelona to the rhythm of rumba! Oléee!

The band? Son del Aire, a group made up of Raúl and Dani, two singer-guitarists that gave an enchanting spark to the party. They sing wonderfully and gave the atmosphere an intimate feel.

In short, it was a lovely party with fabulous food, great company and all to the rhythm of Catalan rumba and flamenco. What more could you ask for? Oléee!

Presentation of the New BMW Series 1 in Barcelona

Presentation of the New BMW Series 1 in Barcelona

Presentación Nuevo Serie 1 BMW | Paty Aula

Safety and security, sobriety, technology and humanity are the underpinning brand values of BMW. Four hallmarks of identity the company is proud of and conveys at all its activities and events. And of course, in this regard, the event showcasing the new Series 1, or THE 1, which BMW held in Barcelona last November, was no exception. An event that featured the debut of the German company’s new compact sedan.

Lo más exclusivo de la sociedad Catalana se dio cita en la presentación del Nuevo Serie 1 de BMW

The event was held in the Llotja de Mar in Barcelona and was hosted by the BMW dealerships Barcelona Premium, Motor Munich, Pruna Motor and Motor Munich Cadí. More than 400 people attended this exclusive fiesta to which celebrities from the movie, theatre and fashion world of Catalonia were invited. Naturally, the brand’s regular clients and representatives from the specialised press were also there. An event that car-lovers simply could not miss.

The presentation of the new Series 1 was a fun and colour-packed event that featured a music group created exclusively for the event, led by the singer Kumar Sublevao-Beat. The gastronomy was entrusted to the prestigious chef Martín Berasategui, a BMW ambassador.

Besides the incredible food and excellent music, the event also gave us opportunity to spend some time with friends and of course to discover the qualities of the new BMW Series 1. The vehicle is a clear commitment to inner space, cutting-edge technology and connectivity. I loved the vehicle’s interior design, which truly makes the most of its space, and I was also surprised by its roomy luggage compartment, substantially larger than the previous model’s.

Holiday Season Cocktel Versace Boutique in Barcelona

Holiday Season Cocktel Versace Boutique in Barcelona

Holiday Season Cocktail la tienda Versace de Barcelona | Paty Aula

This November 28, the Holiday Season Cocktel was held at the Versace Boutique in Paseo de Gracia, 85 in Barcelona. An event where we met up again with old friends and got a peek at Versace’s proposals for this season. The cocktail was accompanied by a DJ session that created a very relaxed and pleasant ambience.

For a fashion lover like yours truly, attending Versace events and getting a first-hand look at its collections is always a delight. Versace is a temple of fashion, and we are truly fortunate to have a boutique in the city where we can peruse and purchase its designs.

But the Versace Boutique in Barcelona does not sell fashion alone. The venue has been conceived as a global design concept which, besides the creations on offer there, in itself is deserving of a visit.

The Barcelona Versace Boutique was designed by Donatella Versace herself and the architect Jamie Fobert

The Barcelona Versace Boutique was designed by Donatella Versace, in collaboration with the English architect Jamie Fobert, and believe you me, you would never doubt it. I love the way they have combined the opulence and the values of Italy with the forcefulness of the Versace brand and what it represents at the present.

Whenever I visit the boutique, it is like being at a halfway house between past and future, thanks to the contrast created by the Perspex walls and the shelves that seem to be floating in the air, all set off by the mosaic flooring that borrows from the Byzantine churches of the Ninth Century.

Since it reopened in 2014, the Barcelona Versace Boutique has become a personal favourite. A veritable paradise for fashion lovers, who will find all the Versace prêt-à-porter collections and accessories there,

Member’s Party of the Real Club Náutico de Barcelona

Member’s Party of the Real Club Náutico de Barcelona

Paty Aula, fiesta del socio real club naútico de Barcelona

One of the events that herald the beginning of Christmas in Barcelona, and which I eagerly await year after year, is the Member’s Party of the Real Club Náutico de Barcelona. This event is held in the club’s rooms and terraces and is a meeting point for Barcelona society.

Fiesta del Socio del Real Club Náutico de Barcelona

This year, the Fiesta was held on November 28 and was attended by many friends who share a similar lifestyle and a passion for sport. The event kicks off the Christmas Festivities and was the first social commitment I had pencilled in for this Christmas.

The Member’s Party of the Real Club Náutico de Barcelona, a meeting point for Catalan society

The Member’s Party of the Real Club Náutico de Barcelona is reserved exclusively for members of the club and their friends and pays tribute to all the members whose sporting or social achievements are noteworthy and afford the club personality and values.

Paty Aula, fiesta del socio real club naútico de Barcelona

One particularly emotional highlight of the event was the testimonial to all those who have been members of the Real Club Náutico de Barcelona for many years now and proudly represent the club’s values, style and class. Thus, tribute was paid to members who have been loyal to the club for more than 25 years and who pass on their affection for the organisation from generation to generation.

As is customary with the events organised by the Real Club Náutico de Barcelona, emphasis is always on the fact that club membership is much more than the mere use of its facilities or even a love of sailing. It is about embracing the values and the lifestyle that the club represents and making them your own. Hallmarks of an identity that we are undoubtedly proud to represent.

New Year’s Eve Party at Soho House Barcelona

New Year’s Eve Party at Soho House Barcelona

Paty Aula, new Year’s Eve Party at Soho House Barcelona

If there is one night that you want to go out partying with friends then it is Hogmanay. I am one of those people who think that New Year’s Eve is a magical night that we should really make the most of in order to give thanks for all the good things in our lives. The Soho House Barcelona is the perfect spot for this, which is why I just knew that I was going to spend New Year’s Eve there in the company of good friends and in an awesome setting.

The Soho House Barcelona is one of those gifts that Barcelona has for us and is purely and simply incomparable. A choice club that brings together a group of members who share creative pursuits and a unique spirit.

Soho House Barcelona held a New Year’s Eve party based on New York’s Copacabana nightclub.

Last Hogmanay, they organised a party inspired by Copacabana, the hedonistic nightclub located in the centre of New York. As soon as we set foot in the venue, we felt that we had travelled back in time to the 1959s, to a world of mob bosses, film stars and the finest Motown Sound.

Fiesta fin de año Soho Hotel, Copacabana

The party began around 8.30 in the evening with a welcome cocktail served by Grey Goose, which we enjoyed before sitting down to our Hogmanay dinner. The dinner featured three dishes: sea-bass, wagyu veal tagliatelle and a white chocolate dessert.

Besides partaking of choice gastronomy, in the course of the evening we were treated to different live shows, dancing and cocktails, courtesy of Grey Goose, which included a healthy dose of  licentiousness at all times.

Seeing out the Old Year and bringing in the New Year at Soho House Barcelona can only bring good things. A new year, one full of hopes and dreams and new projects awaits me, one for which I am now ready.

Doctor Pedro Cavadas is honoured with the Maimónides Award

Doctor Pedro Cavadas is honoured with the Maimónides Award

El Doctor Pedro Cavadas con Paty Aula

Last November I had the good fortune of attending the 2019 Maimónides Award Ceremony at the Hotel Intercontinental in Madrid. The University of Tel Aviv, through the Asociación de Amigos de la Universidad en España, honoured Doctor Pedro Cavadas with the 2019 Maimónides Award. Cavadas is known the world over for his successful transplants and surgical reconstructions.

The accolade was delivered at a charity dinner attended by the Ambassador of Israel, Rodica Radian Gordon, the chairman of the University of Tel Aviv, Professor Ariel Porat, and the co-chairpersons of the Association, Patricia Nahmad and Isaac Querub.

The Maimónides Awards acknowledges the work of organisations and personalities in favour of concord, understanding between peoples and coexistence. Previous awardees include personalities such as Father Angel and Alicia Koplowitz.

The Maimónides Award acknowledges Doctor Cavadas’ commitment to the more vulnerable

I was delighted to attend this award ceremony, which extolled Doctor Cavadas’ core values, such as his commitment, through his expertise and experience, to serving the under-privileged.  A veritable medical eminence whom I had the honour of meeting personally after the event, and who is an inspiration to all of us.

As doctor Cavadas himself has admitted on some occasions, his success as a plastic surgeon had turned him into the prototype of the rich and ambitious surgeon. However, his trips to Kenya led him to change his lifestyle and to create the Pedro Cavadas Foundation, a non-profit organisation that engages in reconstructive surgery in Africa.

The Maimónides award ceremony was followed by a cocktail and a dinner among very pleasant company, which also gave us the opportunity to collaborate in a worthwhile cause, since all the proceeds will be put towards funding research grants and projects.

Masquerade ball at the Circulo del Liceo

On 21 February, we went to a Masquerade ball at the Círculo del Liceo, for a good cause, organized by Mrs Fanny Arriza.

La Casa de Sofia, is an Institute for the interdisciplinary management of rare deseases found in young people and children.

We enjoyed the gorgeous party in the classy private club where I am a member, The Círculo del Liceo, which offered tasty cocktails and catering, amazing music and the best atmosphere.

Most importanly: we had a great time for a good cause!

On the red carpet at the Gaudi Cinema Awards in Barcelona

On the red carpet at the Gaudi Cinema Awards in Barcelona

Academia Cinema Català

I am going to tell you a secret: I love red carpets. If I could, I´d even put one in my bahroom. I never miss an opportunity to walk on one. So, I couldn´t miss the 2020 edition of the Gaudi Awards. Can you think a better plan for a Sunday evening? No, I didn´t so.

I put on a long black sequined dress and headed to the Auditorio del Forum de Barcelona. An emblematic building with theatre seats, well selected for the world of cinema, television and theatre.

Premios Gaudí 2020

Award ceremonies can be tedious. This one was not. Surely because Dagoll Dagom are geniuses and they designe dan agile, fun act full of funny moments which made you laugh and applaud until your wrists were sore.

As I don´t like the whole “selfies with celebrities” thing, I kept my iphone in my clutch and focused on the dresses, accessories and glamour (or lack of it) that the VIPs gave off.

Then the good ones began to appear: Sergi Lopez, Laia Marull, David Verdaguer, and my favourite : Karra Elejade, a phenomenal actor and I am so happy that he´s been recognized here in Barcelona. I confess that I almost took out my iphone to ask him for a selfie.

And then of course, the awards where given. But this you can get in any Gaudi Awards report.

I´ll stick with my flashes on the red carpet… See you at the next one?
